Because of the intense public interest in Tiger Woods’ family problems, Elin and Tiger can take proactive steps to deal with their divorce problems in private. Using Mediation or Collaborative Practice based dispute resolution can provide a win-win for both of them and can shelter their children from a public spectacle. The Woods’ future financial health depends on Tiger resuming his outstanding golf performance. It also depends on him receiving lucrative endorsements. The more he is able to earn from both, the more the entire family will benefit. A long, drawn-out bitter divorce battle will interfere with his concentration. If Tiger cannot show his outstanding golf ability, his endorsements will probably cancel. Their daughters and Elin financial future is directly linked to Tiger’s future success. People will remember a public, bitter battle and remark upon it in the presence of their children for years. The girls will carry their parents’ shame. Tiger and Elin will do themselves and their children a huge favor by following the example of other celebrities such as Robin Williams and Roy Disney by working out their family problems using attorneys who are competent mediators and collaborative professionals.
